Cleaner Hints

A pool cleaner is an essential part of your pool maintenance. Here are some trouble shooting tips to help overcome some common cleaner problems.

MY CLEANER IS NOT MOVING WHEN THE PUMP IS ON

Remove the top blue head and examine for foreign objects. Check the bottom of the cleaner for foreign objects.

Make sure your skimmer basket is clear of leaves and debris. The skimmer basket should be emptied regularly.

Check it is connected to the skimmer and that the regulator is open. If you have a regulator on your skimmer plate, you only need one working - either the one on the plate or the one on the cleaner. DO NOT HAVE BOTH REGULATORS OPEN.
Check the hose for air or foreign objects. Submerge each section before reconnecting.

THERE IS NO SUCTION FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE CLEANER

This would tend to indicate a blockage. Remove the nut and ring from the top of the cleaner and pull the top blue head off the two pipes. Inspect for leaves and debris and flush with a hose.

MY CLEANER WON'T GO TO THE END OF THE POOL OR STAYS IN ONE AREA.

Check that there is enough hose. In most cases using all 12m of hose will cover the length of most pools.

Check water returns. If these are flushing directly into the centre of the pool or to the bottom of the pool, redirect the flow towards the sides. In some cases the force of the return may stop the cleaner going to certain areas.

Check the gradient of the pool from shallow end to deep end.
If this is unusually steep, this or any cleaner may not be able to climb it.

THE HOSE IS LOOPING IN ON ITSELF OR KNOTTING

Disconnect the hose and lay in the sun for about 30 minutes. Rejoin and attach to the cleaner in the water.

Check each segment, there may be air trapped somewhere along the hose. Submerge each section before reconnecting.

Reduce the amount of suction through the regulator at the skimmer box. Too much suction may cause the hose to loop or knot.
