Solar Blankets

Solar Blankets are made from a film containing thousands of tiny bubbles, which work together to collect and retain heat in your pool. A Daisy Solar Pool Cover floats on top of the water and allows the solar energy to pass through, then traps and retains the heat in the pool.

  Solar Workings
Solar Blankets are designed to retain heat. Solar energy (short wavelength) easily passes through the blanket. The heat is retained in the water which radiates at longer wavelengths. It is restricted from readily dissipating into the atmosphere due to the special design of the blanket.

Hint : Circulate the Pump during the warmest part of the day to ensure the heat flows throughout the pool.

Solar Capturing
Swim sooner and longer-enjoy your pool for an extra few months a year. ABGAL's Solar Blanket will increase pool water temperature by up to 8°C and will reduce heating costs by up to 50%. Pool water stays warmer longer, therefore extending
your swimming season.

Solar Blankets Save Water
Most heat loss in a pool is caused by evaporation. An average metropolitan pool can lose up to 1.5 metres per year (source: spasa.com.au). A solar blanket will trap the heat and reduce evaporation by around 90% plus save you up to 50% on chemical consumption.
Solar Storage
A HydroTools Solar Reel is the ideal way to handle and protect your pool blanket. The Reel helps you to roll your blanket on and off the pool, quickly and easily. Each Reel comes with
cords and eyelets to attach the blanket and a protective cover to extend the life of your blanket when stored.

Step by Step Guide to installing Blankets and Rollers
Materials
  • Blanket - sized longest width x widest width
  • 100mm x 6m Aluminium Tube
  • 2 x S/S T-Framed legs (1 with crank handle)
  • Bag of Bits - 10 x S/S screws, 10 x S/S washers, 10 x blue chip eyelets, 1 x punch, 10m VB Cord, 1 x 6m Over cover and 3 bungee hooks
Blanket Cut-In
  • Stretch the blanket over the pool
  • Preliminary cut blanket to shape of pool (using pair of household scissors)
  • Keep cutting blanket in stages - each time getting closer to pool water
  • NB: Bubbles face down on the water

Roller Install
  • Roller must span the widest width of the pool
  • Insert T-framed legs into tube
  • Drill pilot holes for S/S screws into the hubs through the roller tube to fix tube to hubs of legs with S/S screws
  • punch eyelets into blanket 500mm Wafi, clamp male and female eyelets together
  • Cut lengths of string long enough to tie onto eyelets in blanket to reach roller
  • Drill pilot holes into tube in line with eyelets in blanket and fix string to roller tube by screwing in S/S screw and washers
